Keep your eye on this team! They have progressed tremendously after a tough start 2 years ago. The team finished 1st Place in the Redwood League in the 2007 Fall season and has added some strong players who are committed to improving, including 1 U/9 and 2 U/10 players who are doing very well while gaining invaluable experience playing ‘up’. This team will be ready to move to a higher level with increased commitment next season.

This team is fast becoming one of the top teams in the District and with its full squad of players (one U/11 player plays on the top U13 team) is equal to the best Statewide.

TRYOUT DAYS: Open tryouts. Monday (4 p.m- 6 p.m), Tuesday (5 p.m- 7 p.m) & Thursday (4 p.m- 6 p.m) Jordan Middle School in Palo Alto.

ABOUT THE TEAM:

U/11 Girls- Keep your eye on this team! Union FC 96G Gold U11 Girls team is a high level, year round U/11 US Club Soccer girls team, based in Palo Alto which plays in a high level State-wide league. The team is currently playing in the Norcal Premier Gold Division in the A Table.

We welcome advanced and eager to learn players from all surrounding areas. The team formed in Spring 2004 and the girls have shown great commitment and improvement as a team and as individual players. The team won the U10 CYSA Redwood League 2006 in the Fall and played Class 1 Division 2 in the Fall of 2007. In the Spring of 2008 the team attended the highly respected San Diego Nomads Soccer Tournament along with the U13 and U14 Union FC teams.

Over the winter the team played some of the top U/11 teams in the District and did very well, defeating many teams and holding their own and in some cases even dominating.

The team has progressed tremendously over the past 2 years. After a very tough start in the early days it now attracts strong players who are committed to improving, including 3 new U/9 players who are doing very well while gaining invaluable experience playing a year and 2 years up.

This team is ready to move to a higher level with increased commitment this past Winter season. It is expected to be a top Class 1/Norcal Premier 'Premier' division. team in 1 year.
For serious players this is an opportunity to play at a higher level and to be coached by some of the best in the region.

SPRING SEASON:

Practice Days in the Spring are Monday's, Tuesday's & Thursday 's from 4 p.m- 6 p.m at Jordan Middle School in Palo Alto. Click HERE for the league schedule.

Players can be as young as 9 years of age.

UFC 96G Gold is always looking for committed players who want to join our program. Interested players are invited to come to our practices

We currently have several roster spots available and are looking for dedicated players to join us. The team holds ongoing tryouts. We also accept ‘training’ players as part of our program to participate in practices and friendly games with a view to improving their game and eventually being selected to be part of the official roster.

TEAM SELECTION AND PLAYING CRITERIA

  1. Attend all practices and all games.
  2. Wilingness to learn- positive & coachable attitude.
  3. Regular and punctual attendance at games and practices.
  4. Arrirve between 1 hour to 45 mins. prior to game and 10 mins before pracitce.
  5. Dressing for soccer- soccer specific clothing should be worn.
  6. Ability and long term desire to improve.
  7. The need for role models and strong visuals. Every player needs to watch soccer (at least college level and definitely pro. level) and emulate.
  8. Additional practice is strongly encouraged.
  9. Regularly improve juggling and 'method juggling' as well as 'Coerver's. Players expected to work on 'homework' provided by coaches.
  10. Making soccer and esp. UFC a priority in the sporting and social calendar.
  11. Respect for teammates and team coaches.
COACHING STAFF:

Members of coaching staff have played professional soccer and have been some of the most outstanding players in the USA. The staff have also coached many players who have gone on to win NCAA championships, played in the World Cup and Olympics with the National Team, the WUSA and various other youth and senior national teams and professional and semi-pro teams. The team is co-coached by Gary Ireland a former professional player who also coached at Liverpool Football Club and personal assistant to Wiel Coerver. Other coaches include Simon Ireland (former professional and director of World Soccer), Carine Ireland (previously of Liverpool FC Ladies and Stanford graduate), former Leeds United player and director of World Soccer Inc., Victor Ireland and Yang Zhou, former captain of the Chinese Women's World Cup team.
